Long Time No Blog!

18 Nov

I’m not going to make excuses for not blogging, but things have been unbelievably hectic since I arrived back from Perth. Aside from a few personal dramas, I’ve had my one-year blogoversary (which I neglected to acknowledge), I’ve been interviewed about Twitter in Melbourne’s local paper The Age, I’ve finished up my work at my latest temp job, have dressed up and attended three races at Melbourne’s Spring Racing Carnival, and am now preparing for the arrival of two friends from Uni for Thanksgiving and my upcoming trip to Bali with Nicole and return to Perth. Did I mention that Nicole and I are heading up to Sydney over New Years to catch up with Daisy? Needless to say, things have been a bit full-on.

Lately I’ve been a bit distracted with the undeniable close to my year here in Melbourne. I cannot express how badly I don’t want to leave, and having packed up a bit of my Winter wardrobe into suitcases has brought on a whole range of emotions that I wasn’t quite expecting. I understand that all countries have immigration rules and that people can’t just go galavanting wherever they want, but how unfair is it to have to leave a country where you actually feel you belong?

I will hopefully be returning to regular blogging updates sooner than later, thanks for sticking around.

    Lindsay,

My name is Justin-Ley, and I’ve been looking around Melbourne trying to find visitors and Ex-Pats of Uncle Sam, who could help brighten up my Stunt-Super-Cute, 23 year old American wife’s life.

Her name is Stephanie, and she’s been getting a little homesick as of late – and as mentioned – have been looking aroud a few Ex-Pat online groups here in Melbourne, only to discover they’re all ‘just a little too advanced in age’ to get-out-and-about for any GenX/GenY kinda fun.
(Both the Australian-American Association and the American Womens Auxilary are both really good – but to really enjoy most of their social get togethers, you need to be more 30 plus-ish…)

Thanks to google, I came across ‘Tales Of A Yank’ this morning, and have enjoyed your blog and all of its exploits so far – (Really loved your 101 in 1001!) – and as the Aussie in our relationship, I’ve already helped Steph complete most of her Aussie-wish-list as well.

On a more personal note – slight disappointment on the NFL front though… I’m a Dolphins Lad, She’s a Packers Girl, (She’s from Wisconsin – what else could you expect?!), So let’s just leave all that alone from the get go.

We’re both hard core Blues, (Carlton), Fans though, so at least no boxing gloves needed for a 3D catch-up here in Melbourne. (O-so-proud of your CORRECT decision regarding this reality!)

We both have been to Philly and really loved the Nightlife and ‘Bar Strife’ we managed to get ourselves into.

We also did the total tourist thing and discovered the o-so-famous Philly Cheese Steak Corner – (and the two competing propriators who to this day still swear ‘Me, I was first’!)

And yeah, yeah – of course we watch ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ – as I have downloaded every single episode ever aired for Steph – (MmmmHmm, we’re that kinda sick as well!)

… Long story short, Steph is currently kinda blue about Thanksgiving this Thursday. I know, I know, I know – Unknown Internet Weirdos – stalking, stalking stalking – blah, blah, blah,

But, any chance of you and Steph possibly meeting for a Coffee before Thursday – and if you both hit it off – and only if you both hit it off – maybe, and only maybe, do something for Thanksgiving on Thursday?

I love her to bits, and she means the world to me. But, I’m starting to notice her becoming a little too homesick for my liking.
She is crazy fun, crazy funny, loves to dance and get amongst it – but is really starting to miss relating to an accent and tongue close to her heart.

If not for Thanksgiving, then maybe a new American Girlfriend to kick back with for the rest of your time Downunder? What-say-you?

Let me/us know via right here, (just to keep this nice and safe), and again – keep up the good bloggin’

    Regards,

    Justin-Ley and Stephanie
